Buying Club 2011 - The Goods - Week 2

I think I over-ordered.  I didn't do the day-of-the-week math.  I picked up the CSA on Tuesdays, which meant three days of good salad-eating for me and Brian, in our packed-for-work lunches.  Now that I look at this, with spinach and mixed lettuce and kale, I don't know how it's going to happen.  I pick this up on Thursdays, and we just don't eat that much weekend salad.

What you see here, left to right, is whole wheat bread flour, broccoli, collards, mixed lettuce, butternut squash, spinach, mushrooms, eggs, carrots, gala apples, milk, smoked cheddar, potatoes, marinara sauce, butter, five pounds of seitan, and kale.

Yes, I said five pounds of seitan.   It's the only package that was available and it's the best seitan around.  I can't believe they don't have a website - I Googled, but no.  There's a Facebook fan page, but no website.   Anyhow, it's Ray's seitan, it's local, and it's awesome.  So I divided it into half-pound packages and tossed it in the freezer.

So, I am the proud owner of three butternut squashes (one I've had a while) and two dozen eggs and several pounds of potatoes and way too many salad greens.  The good news is that my grocery list for this week is powdered sugar and pickled jalepenos.   Not bad.
