Local Vegan Sausage

At the end of Winter Harvest, I ordered some vegan sausage.  We're not meat-sausage people, but I was interested in new main dish options, so I went for it.   It's been occupying my freezer for a while. The sausage is from Renaissance, right here in South Philly, and they're known for their food truck

The sausage is bean and seitan based.

I grilled it and topped it with a cumin-paprika-vegenaise sauce.  It was surprisingly good.  As a non-sausage person, and a non-vegan person, I wasn't sure what to expect.  It had flavors that I interpret at "Mexican-ish," but that might just be my experience with black bean burgers and topping them with cilantro and jalepenos.  The leftovers are definitely going to be wrapped in a corn tortilla and served with tomato and onion.

We'll get it again, for sure. One of the little gourmet stores nearby carries it, in case we can't wait until next year's Winter Harvest.
